Stone has plasticity but at the same time it’s hard, heavy and solid. Despite modern techniques and tools, working on stone sculptures is a very demanding physical process which takes up a lot of time, especially when the sculptor does the whole task alone, from start to finish. Stone is a conscious choice for me in the midst of present day short-sightedness in this busy-busy world. Stone is millions of years old and man has moulded stone for millennia. Thus stone and the sculptor are in direct contact with time, history and nature. However, stone is just a means to me, and not the only material I use. It is effective, and a good material for the modern sculptor also.
